What I learned at National Conference

I had no idea what to expect from the PRSSA 2012 National Conference. All I knew was that more than 1000 public relations students were going to descend upon San Francisco for a long weekend. After three flights and twelve hours of travel, our Chapter arrived in “The City.” The next three days were a whirlwind of networking, tweeting and charging our phones so we could live tweet even more speaker sessions. PRSSA National provided attendees with high caliber experts speaking about everything from Personal Branding to Ethics of Social Media. Each session gave me insight that students cannot find in classrooms. Not only were we able to network with industry professionals, but we were also able to connect with PRSSA members from all over the country and our international chapter in Argentina. All weekend long, our Executive Board has been discuss our chapter strengths and weaknesses in order to learn from each other. These conversations taught me the most because it was information that I could apply immediately. Our members attending this year’s PRSSA National Conference are already planning on ways to further improve the award-winning Beth Wood Chapter of PRSSA at Indiana University.
